silvicultural quality

Categories of silvicultural quality of stands: GOOD: The tree species is suitable for the habitat. The stand has been managed according to the criteria of good forestry practices. The dominant layer of trees is dense and uniform. SATISFACTORY: The stand is almostable to utilise the growing potential of the habitat. PASSABLE: The stand is sparsely stocked or there are factors clearly lowering the quality of the stand (a considerable proportion of low-value tree species, damage, low technical quality of trees, etc.). Delayed felling or silvicultural operation may also lower the quality of the stand to passable. LOW-YIELDING: The regeneration of the stand is substantially delayed or has beenunsuccessful. The yield of the stand is clearly below the yielding capacity of the habitat, which may result from the wrong tree species for the habitat, damage, the stand being too sparsely stocked,over-maturity of trees, low technical quality of trees, etc. A low-yielding stand is either in need of urgent regeneration, or it can be grown on for a short period for the value growth. In any case, the stand should be renewed before the end of the rotation time of the dominant tree layer.
