Species

1) Some of the boars and sows were included in the fattening pigs before 2008.
2) Mutton and lamb, horse: Coverage of statistics extended from 1 January 2006.
3) Mutton: Coverage of statistics extended from 1 January 2012.
4) The monthly number of slaughtered sheep in 2017 is not fully comparable with the data for previous years.
Number of slaughtered goats in 2021 has been revised (24.2.2023).
5) Include also slaughterings of meat breed cattle
Until 2019, the classification of cattle in the meat production statistics was based on carcass weight categories. From 2020 onwards, the classification is based on slaughter age.
Classification was until year 2019:
Cattle total
Cows
Bulls 130 kg or more
Heifers 130 kg or more
Young cattle 80-129 kg
Calves under 80 kg
6) Cattle is classified as meat breed if its mother is registered as a suckler cow.
7) Include also suckler cows.

Since 2022 slaughter numbers for suckler cow are not comparable with previous years.

PIGS TOTAL

Includes also pigs exported for slaughter.

Broilers

Includes also breeder hens from 2017.
